ISLAMABAD: Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) Chairman Imran Khan said that Prime Minister Nawaz Sharif is trying to escape the accountability – which is evident by the his non-filing of documents and requesting two more weeks for the purpose.
“Nawaz Sharif had talked of presenting himself for accountability but his documents have not been submitted in the Supreme Court (SC) on Monday,” Imran said.
The PTI chief told the media persons at Banni Gala on Monday that the prime minister had requested two more weeks to file the documents – which seems like the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) is using dilatory tactics.
On the non-presenting of documents and the ruling party’s delaying tactics, the court remarked that ‘this would not run for longer’ as the apex court longs to decide the case as soon as possible.
“We will give a reply that Maryam Nawaz was dependent,” Imran said while referring to Nawaz’s reply filed in the SC that said his daughter was not dependent.
He underlined that the National Accountability Bureau’s (NAB) chairman left for China before the he could be questioned. Imran said that Nawaz agreed for his ‘search’ after people came out on to the streets, which is a victory for the people.
He said the PML-N wants to prolong the case by using dilatory tactics but the SC wants to decide it as soon as possible. “Maybe it will be decided within two hearings,” he said.
Furthermore, the PTI chief declared that he purchased an apartment in 1983 that was not hidden from anyone but the PML-N is hiding its assets despite the fact the Interior Minister Chaudhry Nisar Ali Khan had already stated that Nawaz Sharif had purchased this property in the 90s.
